A DAWN HAS TO FOLLOW

"Humanity has not ended" that's what I said to myself when i was checking Facebook last time which had as many as ten statuses quoting their views on diminishing humanity. Since last week, all i could see is gradual rise in humanity.People taking a stand for the girl who was raped in the rape capital where two rape cases are reported everyday is applausable. Men and women of Delhi didn't let their anger die that easily. It's infact overwhelming to see such a huge support. Protests like these against atrocities on women are not new in India but this time it seems different for this time it is not initiated by any women welfare association. It is largely driven by common people, young girls, students, working women or may be their mothers. They faced many obstructions in the course of their protest such as teargas, water cannon and even few political parties for whom this is just another chance to bring down the government.People are pouring in their different views on Facebook where some demand capital punishment ,some castration and some are busy criticizing present government. Same things i have been reading in newspapers where few of the writers think that capital punishment can't serve the purpose and moral fiber is the need of the hour. One thing that has not changed is the news of yet another girl being raped but this time it is in bold letter which earlier used to be somewhere in a small column. You'd be thinking what i was doing when others were busy protesting and demanding harsher punishment for culprits. Amidst this furore, i got many invites from concerned friends of mine to join these peaceful protest and i,myself wanted to participate in something that historical. But then, it dawned on me why i need a goddamn protest to make my presence felt when i have been working my way out for so long on this.
I don't want to be part of a crowd who needs such a heinous incident as a wake up call or as a reminder of atrocities on women ,a protest that goes on for a week or so just to forget the whole incident and shame on few people who couldn't see the depth of incident and are trying to politicize the whole situation.I agree with what few people have to say about the legitimacy of capital punishment  Has harsher punishment ever stopped a person from committing crime? No, crime will be committed anyway. We can't alter the future but we can definitely mend our ways today.A young mind who's always taught to respect women or any other being won't commit such type of crime. But enough said about teaching young male minds, young female minds need to be taught their ways, don't they? and by this i definitely don't mean that they should be back to home by 8 or dress properly.India where majority population is working class usually has sole bread winner in the family who is usually father and who thinks of son as an "investment" and daughter as "huge spending". A daughter born to middle class family in India is always told how she's going to end up with a husband like his father and her motive would be to bring up a family. She's always made dependent on someone, dependent on father till marriage and on husband thereon. And then they call it their society and Indian culture. Will Indian culture end up if a girl is taught that she has her own identity which is far important than being someone's wife or daughter. What if she is taught that she is not  a weakling in our society and that she has lot of courage and respect to take on the world on her own. Tell her that she's not in anyway weaker than anyone else out there. What is rightfully yours is yours, earn it or snatch it. You don't have to go with what others have to tell you, go as your instincts guide you. Break the social norms if they bound you and restrict your progression. How many dads would have said this to their daughter? None,i guess.
I would conclude by saying that male-imposed atrocities prevail only because of woman's self-imposed atrocities. And next time when you tell your son to behave properly,do tell your daughter to face world courageously for survivors are the winners in this world.
